ECR Promotion Events: Yes (1. Student Researcher Scholarship for Masters, Honors and PhD students 2. Gavin Jackson Award. The recipient will be a current or recent University ornithology student (including Grad. Certificate, Grad. Diploma, Bachelors Degree, MSc or PhD), and will have demonstrated a passion for birds. The prize will include reimbursement of the registration fee to attend the 2019 Australasian Ornithological Conference, and a two year membership to BirdLife Australia (including an electronic subscription to Emu). 3. Birdlife Western Australia has two sponsorships of $500 each on offered for Western Australian postgraduate students. Sponsorships will be allocated on the basis of the merit, quality and relevance of submitted abstracts. The cut off date for the submission of abstracts is 30th November 2018. BWA will notify successful applicants by email or post by 30th January 2019. Funding of $500 will then be forwarded and acknowledged to these people at the AOC2019. The conditions of this sponsorship are that applicants: Are enrolled for a postgraduate degree that is relevant to ornithology, Are studying in Western Australia, Have registered to attend the AOC2019 for at least one day, Are prepared to present a paper at this conference, Have not received any other subsidy or grant to attend the AOC2019 4. Travel Awards for ECRs: Yes (Two travel grants of $1,000 (if held in Australia) each are on offer for the AOC2019. Criteria: A travel grant is awarded ONCE to any one person. To be eligible, applicants must be current Birds NZ members at the time of submitting an application.
