On-site Childcare Facilities/Services: Yes (Families: There is no conference fee to children under 16 years. We provide on-site day care during the whole conference with a nominal fee (5€/day). Day care is provided by professionals from the Mannerheim league for Child Welfare, the largest child welfare NGO in Finland. More info on the organiser here. Day camps/off-venue program can also be organized for older children. Day care must be booked during registration. Families can view the plenary talks and symposia held in the Logomo hall 1 directly via specific loges in prime location. We will organize a family social and provide a family info pack (see page ”social programme” for more information on the family social event). ECR Promotion Events: Yes via multiple awards: (1.Global Training Initiative: This initiative strives to support communities of evolutionary biologists in countries with little or no history and background in this field. 2.Godfrey Hewitt Mobility Award: The mobility award intends to support fieldwork or lab visits of young researchers. 3.John Maynard Smith Prize: Every year the society distinguishes an outstanding young evolutionary biologist with this award. 4.Outreach Initiative Funds: The Outreach Initiative supports projects that promote evolution-related activities in order to improve public knowledge about evolution worldwide. 5.Presidents’ Award: Every six years the ESEB Presidents will recognise outstanding contributions to evolutionary biology by a mid-career scientist. 6.Progress Meetings in Evolutionary Biology: This initiative supports short meetings on focused topics in the field of evolutionary biology with the objective to produce either a Special Issue or Target Review for the Journal of Evolutionary Biology. 7.Special Topic Networks: Every other year, ESEB invites proposals for Special Topic Networks (STNs) that will support dynamic and flexible series of small meetings and/or other networking opportunities in focused and currently active research areas. 8.Stearns Graduate Student Prize: The Stearns Graduate Students Prize is awarded annually for an outstanding paper published by a PhD student in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology during a given calendar year.)

Travel Awards for ECRs: Yes (1.ESEB Conference travel award: These stipends are for students and young scientists to attend the ESEB 2019 congress in Turku, Finland. The stipend will contribute to covering travel, living expenses and early bird congress registration fees. The award will be paid out as a reimbursement after the congress, based on specification of the expenses. For more information please visit the ESEB website. 2.Congress attendance aid grant. The grant aims to ensure equal opportunities at the ESEB congress in Turku, Finland, e.g. by facilitating the attendance of women with caring responsibilities, who would not otherwise be able to attend. The grant provides stipends of financial aid for scientists to help with the additional costs borne privately due to responsibilities for dependents when attending the ESEB congress.
